The Netherland America Foundation 45th Annual Ball

The Netherland America Foundation will hold its 45th annual ball on Friday, November 20th in New York City. Celebrating Dutch-American friendship and cultural exchange between the United States and the Netherlands, the ball offers an opportunity to think about the long history arc of Dutch-American history, which goes back, of course, to 1609, when Henry Hudson arrived in New York in search of a navigable passage to Asia. We are thrilled that at this year’s ball guests will receive a copy of Peter Douglas’s booklet Dutch Renaissance: The Story of the New Netherland Project. First published in 2009 and in a revised edition in 2022, Dutch Renaissance tells the story of the New Netherland Project, the precursor to today’s New Netherland Institute, and efforts to
preserve and translate Dutch records in New York, which began in the 18th century and continue today.
