Join the New York State Museum and the New Netherland Institute for a film and music program exploring migration, memory, and the Dutch influence on American life and culture. The program features a selection of short music films by Dutch animation artist Udo Prinsen, including From Wenters to Wisconsin, a poetic short inspired by the experiences of Dutch immigrants who left their homes in the 1840s in search of greater prosperity in the United States. The film explores the emotions of leaving everything behind and beginning a new life in an unfamiliar place. Music by trombonist and composer Ryan Keberle complements the films and their themes. Presented in connection with the USA 250 celebrations and supported by DutchCulture USA, a program of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the United States.
