Daniel Myers Van Auken 1826-1908
Daniel Myers Van Auken, a Pennsylvania lawyer and Democrat, served two terms in Congress from 1867 to 1871 representing Pike County.

Daniel Myers Van Auken was born in Montague, Sussex County, NJ on January 15, 1826. He graduated from Union College, Schenectady, NY in 1852. He studied law and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1855. He then began his law practice in Milford, PA.
He served as the Prosecuting Attorney of Pike County, PA from 1855 to 1859. He ran as a Democrat for the 40th U.S. Congress and for the 41st U.S. Congress. He served from March 1867 to March 1871, and was not a candidate for reelection in 1870.
He resumed his law practice in Milford, PA. He also served as the District Attorney of Pike County, PA from 1893 to 1896 and from 1899 to 1903. He then resumed his law practice again in Milford, PA until his death.
Daniel Myers Van Auken passed away in Milford, PA on November 7, 1908 at the age of 82. He was interred in Milford Cemetery, Milford, PA.
