Hendricks Award
Endowed by Dr. Andrew Hendricks, this award of $5,000 is given annually for the best book or book-length manuscript relating to the Dutch colonial experience in North America before the American Revolution. The deadline for submissions is January 15.

Charles W. Wendell Research Grant
The New Netherland Institute offers an annual $1,000 prize for the best published article relating to the Dutch colonial experience in the Atlantic world, with a special sensitivity to New Netherland or its legacy. The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2027.

The Howard G. Hageman Citation
The Howard G. Hageman Citation honors Dr. Howard G. Hageman, a founder of the Friends of the New Netherland Project, later known as the Friends of New Netherland and currently the New Netherland Institute.. The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2027.

Van Slyke Article Prize
The New Netherland Institute offers an annual $1,000 prize for the best published article relating to the Dutch colonial experience in the Atlantic world, with a special sensitivity to New Netherland or its legacy. The deadline for submissions is April 1, 2027.
Past Fellowship Opportunities

Fulbright-NNRC Student Scholar Research Grant
NNI in conjunction with the Fulbright Center of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, offers a 3-month residency and a grant of $5,000 for research in the field of New Netherland history and the Dutch Atlantic world.

Student Scholar Research Grant
The New Netherland Institute and New Netherland Research Center support graduate student scholars with a one week to three months residency at the New Netherland Research Center available.
